Hagit Ben Yakar Shechter was born in 1975. She lives and creates in Ramat Gan, Israel. She graduated with a B.A. in Product Design from Vital, the Tel Aviv Center for Design Studies (2000). She studied in various settings with leading Israeli artists - including with Sari Golan at Atelier in Tel Aviv, Kamila Lozinsky Malach in Philosophical Accompaniment for Artists, an Artist Accompaniment Course with Talia Israeli at Atelier in Tel Aviv, and an "Archetypal Art" course with Prof. Assi Meshulam.

She mainly works with linoleum prints, acrylic painting on canvas, and figurative drawing. Alongside her material works, she writes poems. During the work, the words flow onto the page and become part of the work. The words do not try to interpret or translate the work, but rather constitute a part of it, they accompany the work on social networks and in sound recording and video art.

In the works, the artist uses creation as an additional digestive system for daily experiences, in an encounter and attempt to pursue true honesty with which she experiences daily difficulty in encountering the world. A range of emotions that give still lifes a personification and function as a symbol within the artist's personal experience. The topics that arise for discussion are open questions, it is not necessarily possible to find a definitive answer in the work, the questions remain open to thought. With the help of delicate and sensitive drawing, a sharp print in linoleum cuts and painting in acrylic colors with an emphasis on a point of view from within the format, and on the cutting of the position of the object, all in order to focus on the subject of the discourse.

She has exhibited in various group exhibitions in Israel, including at the Ben Ami Gallery in Tel Aviv (2020, 2021, 2022), at the Alliance House in Jerusalem (2021), and at the Ayelet Hashachar Gallery (2019). She also participated in the "Fly on Yourself" installation to mark Women's Day in Givatayim (2001) and in Dr. Fisher's "Artists Send Peace" project with artists from the Emirates (2020). Partner at N.D. Gallery R.G. (2023) Participated in the exhibition "Breaking", "Hope" at the gallery.
